I’ve been asked by many of our fans to give my stance on the Carson King / Busch situation. I want to start off by saying I have been paid $0 by Anheuser-Busch and have only created content containing Busch Light because I love to drink Busch Light.
Our only goal at You Betcha has been to try and make people laugh and improve their day. But lately there has been a lot of negativity on our page and I’d like to take the time to address the concerns our followers have. I’ve been asked to switch to another beer. I have been unfollowed because of my association with Busch, and it’s creating animosity amongst people who drink Busch Light, the people of Iowa and the people of the Midwest. I hate that. I hope that what I say can help rid us of the angst and regain some perspective on what this is really about, the kids.
Do I stand with Carson King? Yes. Do I support his actions portrayed in his tweets years ago? No. Do I stand with Busch? Yes. Can we respect Busch’s decision while still back Carson and this great cause? Yes. Why are we making this Carson King vs. Busch? I respect Busch’s decision because I am a business owner myself. I understand the need to protect the brand and values you create. I support Carson because he did an incredible, selfless act to enhance the lives of children.
All of that being said, this is about the Midwest trying to help children who struggle every day at the hospital. Let’s focus on the families and children who now have a better chance, thanks to two incredible gifts: a very generous Iowan and a brand that cares about the Midwest. In the end, sick kids win. That’s what I care about. That’s what we all should care about.
These are my thoughts and opinions. I've made my donation, helped bring awareness to the cause, and now I’m going to drink a Busch Latte and pray for the kids in the hospital.
